Understanding Your Hyundai Dashboard Warning Lights

While we always recommend consulting your model’s owner’s manual, our Lynnes Hyundai Service Center has listed the most common Hyundai dash symbols and their meanings below for your convenience.

Keep in mind that the urgency level associated with each symbol varies. If you see a symbol classified as high urgency, please contact us or schedule Hyundai routine maintenance immediately.

Low-medium urgency levels may indicate a feature is active, suggest routine Hyundai maintenance is needed, signal a check you can easily perform yourself, or–in some cases–indicate that you’ll need a certified Hyundai mechanic to service a benign electrical issue.

	Parking Brake/Bake Fluid	Signals that the parking brake is active or that there are low levels of brake fluid.	High
	Diesel Exhaust Filter	Indicates that the exhaust filter is blocked with dirt or soot. Be sure to visit us ASAP to have it replaced.	High
	Diesel Exhaust Fluid	Indicates that your diesel engine has low exhaust fluid levels. Schedule with us ASAP. Otherwise, your engine function could be compromised.	High
	Electric Power Steering	Signals a power steering system malfunction. Try restarting the car and waiting 30 seconds. If you still see the light, schedule an appointment with us when you can.	Low-Medium
	Engine Oil	Indicates an engine oil systems error or an issue with oil pressure. Stop as soon as safely possible and check your engine oil levels. If they’re low, book with us.	Low-Medium
	Maintenance Light	Signals that your vehicle needs Hyundai routine maintenance performed. Schedule ASAP.	Low-Medium
	Headlight/Tail Light Out	Indicates that one of your head or tail lights is out. See us for a replacement.	Low-Medium
